Tree in blossom in front of church

Inbetween my time in the memorial gardens and near the Victoria Wood statue the other day, I picked up a newspaper produced by Bury Art Museum and Scuplture Centre on the area around these features, which lies close to the museum itself.  It includes a quotation from John Ruskin, which is taken from his essay, The Seven Lamps of Architecture, first published in 1849.  He talks about the value of buildings for future generations and the newspaper exemplifies something of those qualities in both depicting and digging into the history of the facades and the interiors of these buildings.

Yesterday I wrote about Jini Reddy's book, Wanderland and, in particular, how synchronicities form part of her search for magic in the landscape.

Turning to the book after posting that blog, I experienced another one.  Having written about bringing together the human and the land, I read about Jinny's visit to the Ash Dome, a tree sculpture by David Nash in North Wales.  She describes it as follows: "Ash Dome is a kind of shaman tree, a liminal space between two worlds: the world of physical nature and the world of man".
